Privacy Policy
Effective January 1, 2025

The International Institute for the Promotion of Science in Organizations and its subsidiaries and affiliates (collectively, “IIPSO”, “we”) "us") understand that you value your privacy. We are committed to respecting your privacy and protecting your personal data; that is, any information that allows you to be identified as a specific individual. This Privacy Policy describes how we, as data controllers, handle and protect your personal data in connection with IIPSO´s activities, such as conferences and events, and customer services, and on websites, applications, and communications that post a link to this Privacy Policy (collectively, "the Sites"). Please see our Terms of Use for more information about our general terms and policies.

1.- Information We Collect
IIPSO collects personal data in the course of its activities, including in connection with certain customer services. We also collect personal data in certain areas of the Sites when you register or request information through the IIPSO Site, create a user profile, subscribe to IIPSO newsletters and announcements, sign up for conferences and events, or participate in public user posting areas (such as bulletin boards, discussion forums, and surveys). The personal data collected varies and may include information you provide, such as your name, postal address, email address, telephone number, etc.

We may also automatically collect information about the devices you use to interact with our Sites. The information we automatically collect may include IP address, device identifier, web browser, and navigational information collected through cookies, web beacons, pixels, clear gifs, and other similar technologies (collectively, "Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies") on our Sites. We may also automatically collect information about how you use the Sites, such as what you have searched for and viewed on the Sites. The information collected automatically will be associated with the personal data you have provided.

IIPSO may also collect personal data about you from third parties, such as data aggregators, in the course of its business activities, including in connection with certain customer services. We may combine this data with existing information we have about you or use it independently for the purposes of our benchmarking and data analysis activities (e.g., analyzing hiring practices in an industry, detecting fraud patterns related to financial transactions, or foot traffic in retail environments). We will also always try to confirm that the third party has previously informed both you and IIPSO about its use of this data.

2.- Use of Information
IIPSO uses your personal data to fulfill your requests for information, process your requests to participate in conferences and events, personalize content you view or receive on the Sites, evaluate and improve our services, send you newsletters and notices, select and evaluate job applicants, analyze the performance and operation of the Sites, publish your letters to the editor or comments, prevent fraud, enforce our terms of use, comply with all applicable laws and business reporting obligations, enforce IIPSO agreements, and achieve other purposes you may initiate or request. In some situations, the collection of personal data may be necessary for the operation of the Sites, or we may use the data during our business activities, including in connection with certain customer services, for example, to provide certain services or products such as our benchmarking products.

We may combine or analyze personal data to evaluate and offer content and services that may be of interest to you. We may retain your personal data in our records and use it to communicate with you.

IIPSO and its service providers may use first-party and third-party cookies and other tracking technologies, including web beacons, to operate our Sites and services and collect analytics information about your use of them. IIPSO and its service providers may collect information to understand whether you open or click links in communications regarding training, research, or events that we send you. The information provided in this Privacy Policy regarding cookies also applies to these other tracking technologies. Please see our Cookie Policy for more details about our use of cookies and other tracking technologies.

Our Sites do not track you by collecting personal data about your online activities over time or across third-party websites or online services. Therefore, we do not alter our data collection and use practices in response to "do not track" signals transmitted from web browsers.

3.- Use of Information Collected Through Mobile Devices
In connection with our mobile applications, IIPSO may use third-party service providers to analyze user activity in order to troubleshoot errors, monitor usage, and improve the performance of the mobile applications. For example, IIPSO receives reports about certain aggregate usage and browsing patterns of our mobile applications, including information about the type of device used, items accessed, and other events that occur within our applications. IIPSO also receives reports about certain errors that occur within the mobile applications.

4.- Legal Basis for Processing Your Personal Data
Our processing of your personal data for the purposes mentioned above is based on the following assumptions:

  • In part based on our legitimate interests in promoting and protecting IIPSO, establishing and maintaining relationships, contracting and services;
  • In part, based on your consent, for example, if you create a user profile or subscribe to our newsletters or notices, or for business purposes that assist with website operations, such as understanding and improving the quality of your experience on our websites;
  • In part, to comply with the law, where certain information is necessary to comply with our legal or regulatory obligations.

5.- Data Recipients and International Data Transfers
Personal data collected during IIPSO business activities, including in connection with certain customer services, as well as on the Sites, may be transferred periodically to IIPSO subsidiaries and affiliates, as well as to their personnel throughout our global organization, and to our third-party service providers located around the world, including in countries where local law may grant you fewer rights than you have in your own country. In addition, the Sites may be viewed and hosted by IIPSO and our third-party service providers anywhere in the world.

Where required by law, we have put in place legal mechanisms designed to ensure adequate data protection for your personal data processed by IIPSO subsidiaries or affiliates and third-party service providers, including the transfer of your personal data to countries other than your country of residence.

If you would like more information about these legal mechanisms, which may include EU Standard Contractual Clauses, please contact us at the address provided below. By using any of the Sites and providing information on any of them, you voluntarily consent to such international transfers and hosting of information.

IIPSO will not intentionally disclose or transfer your personal data to third parties without your consent or in a manner not permitted by law (and we will take reasonable steps to prevent unauthorized or accidental disclosure) for those third parties' marketing and other purposes, except as set out below. IIPSO may provide access to your personal data to third-party service providers engaged by IIPSO to provide services related to the Sites or IIPSO's business activities, including in connection with certain customer services, as agreed in our customer service agreements. We maintain processes designed to ensure that any processing of personal data by third-party service providers is consistent with this Privacy Policy and protects the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of your personal data.

We may also share your personal data with third-party service providers who perform services and functions on our behalf to support our interactions with you, including, for example, to process recruitment materials, administer surveys or contests, or to communicate with you. In addition, we may disclose information about you in the following cases:

  • If requires to do so by law or legal process;

  • If required to do so by law enforcement or other government officials;

  • If we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to prevent physical harm or financial loss, or in connection with an investigation into suspected or actual illegal activities;

  • If disclosure is necessary to protect the vital interests of a person;

  • To enforce our Terms of Use;

  • To protect our property, services, and legal rights;

  • To prevent fraud against IIPSO, our subsidiaries, affiliates, or other business partners;

  • To assist with auditing, compliance, and corporate governance functions; or

  • To comply with all applicable laws.

We may also disclose or transfer your personal data in the event of a reorganization, merger, sale, joint venture, assignment, or other transfer or disposition of all or a portion of our business.

7.- Links to Third-Party Sites
IIPSO may provide links to third-party websites or information as a service to our users. If you use these links, you will leave the Sites. These links do not imply that IIPSO endorses, sponsors, or recommends the third party, the third-party website, or the information contained therein, and IIPSO accepts no responsibility for your use of them. Such use will be subject to the terms of use and privacy policies applicable to those sites.
